On the eve of the 2023 cricket season, we hear from new 1st XI league captain Ben Johns on why he succeeded Mark Lavelle, his vision for the season, his methods and his ways that he will lead the side and who he will listen to!

It will be Johnser’s first tilt at captaincy, becoming the 18th player to captain the 1st XI in the Southern Premier League and the first ‘newcomer’ since Ben Perry in 2019 at Hook and Newnham Basics.
