As if Dumbleton Cricket Club hadn’t taken enough of our silverware but their Director of Cricket arrived, saw and conquered the Peter Clark Memorial Trophy by a single point at the Southampton Municipal Golf Course!

Of course we jest, as Kevin Emery – the former Hampshire seam bowler and player with some aplomb with Calmore Sports in our first season in the Southern League in 1990 – is very much a ‘legend’ of our club and was welcomed with open arms.

He pipped David Brandes and Ben Johns, who sat patiently in the clubhouse, each with 41 points, awaiting the final playing group to come back containing Kevin, Paul Baker and the President and our outstanding organiser.  Hope turned to despair as the card appeared with 42 points to take the win.

Kevin becomes the 11th winner of the Peter Clark ‘Claret Jug’ and the ceremonial Green Jacket (LIST OF THE WINNERS).

Despite the indifferent weather, it was another fantastic event with 29 players taking part, including a great many club legends including the returning Baz Oram, former captains Bob Willcocks, Terry Chilcott, Mark Lavelle, James Hibberd and Paul Cass as well as a number of current players and friends of the club.

Thanks go hugely to Steve Brandes, the President, for his diligent organising and to the Southampton Municipal Golf Club for hosting us so superbly.
