Calmore Sports Club are delighted to welcome 18-year-old Liam O’Connor as their overseas player for the 2023 campaign.

Liam, a left-hand batter and leg-spin bowler from the Casey South Melbourne Cricket Club, he comes highly recommended by a player who knows the club well in 2010 overseas signing Michael Wallace, who is Casey’s club captain.

Following a successful season in the Victoria Cricket Leagues, Liam – who has also represented Weston Park Cricket Club – is excited about the prospect of joining up with us.

“I have spoken to Michael quite a bit about coming over and he said about how much of a family club Calmore Sports and how it’ll be a great place to learn my game more as a youngster and get involved as much as I can with all things around the club, including helping coach the juniors,” said the self confession cricket ’nuffy and badger’!

“It is a very exciting trip for me and I can’t to get to Loperwood Park and join up with the lads ahead of the season.”

Such was his desire to head to England to develop his game that he has put off starting his university studies in exercise and sports science to make the six-month excursion to play a season of club cricket with us.

Liam arrives in the country next week – hopefully the weather will be more Melburnian than Sotonian.
