The 2021 Calmore Sports Club Annual General Meeting took place at Loperwood Park this last Thursday (26 November 2021) and below are the key points.

There was much congratulation for the 1st XI, who won the National Village Cup on a memorable day at Lord’s, and for the 3rd XI who secured promotion into Hampshire Division Four South for 2022.

Steve Brandes was voted in as club President for a sixth year and Chairman Pete Lavelle accepted his nomination for a 14th, closing in on the John Newman’s Calmore record of 18 years in the Chair from 1967 to 1985.

Clare Taylor continues in her role as Secretary, a position that she has held since 2013 and Ollie Tull, after announcing a very decent club profit for the financial year to 30th September 2021 – certainly boosted by the run in the National Village Cup – will carry on as Treasurer.

Abbi Finney, having had a pleasingly quiet season on the Welfare Officer front, accepted the position for another season with Darren Vann continuing as the Colts Co-Ordinator.

Dave Johns, Tom Perry and Keith Woodhall remain as committee members – with Woody and Fiona continuing in the Hall Booking position.

Mark Lavelle takes the 1st XI captaincy position for an eighth year – the longest serving First XI captain since Bill Maton’s 11 year reign post-World War II through to 1957.

Lord’s winner Matty Taylor has decided to take over the reigns of the Second XI – the 24th player to take that mantle since joining the leagues in 1974.

Title winning captain Callum Greasley was voted in as 3rd XI captain for a second season but there were no takers for the key role of 4th XI skipper on the night.
