Calmore Sports Club first XI captain Mark Lavelle topped off a memorable year by being named “Clubman of the Year” at the 2016 CSC Senior Presentation Night on Friday night.

Mark, who expertly led the side to their first Championship title in 22 years when he skippered the first XI to the SPCL Division 2 summit, was the headline at the superbly organised and attended event at Loperwood Park.

George Woodhall was named as the most improved player, following a stellar campaign for the second XI which saw him not only develop his game but show his maturity throughout the season which was honoured with his award.

Some 60 plus players, supporters and families enjoyed the annual event and were treated to excellent food provided by T20 and U19 shirt sponsors Papadums of Totton, followed by highly entertaining speeches from U19 coach Steve Wright, 2nd XI vice-captain Tom Perry, first XI skipper Mark Lavelle and MC’d by Chairman Pete Lavelle.

It was the culmination of a fine season throughout the club, tinged with a little concern over the state of the lower sides but celebrated the triumphs of the first XI and the U19s reaching the T20 play-offs.
